Jamaica and Bulgaria draw in friendly soccer game

Jamaica and Bulgaria played to a 0-0 draw in a hard-fought international friendly soccer match Sunday asboth countries continued their preparations for upcoming World Cupqualifying matches. After a lackluster first-half, both teams stepped up the pace inthe second-half with the Bulgarians coming close to scoring onthree occasions. In the 55th minute, Hristo Iovov hit the crossbar with Jamaicangoalkeeper Aaron Lawrence beaten. With 10 minutes remaining, Lawrence made two match-saving plays. First, he knocked Martin Petrov's goalbound shot to the far postand into the path of the onrushing Krasimir Chomakov, whose fierceshot was tipped over the crossbar. Striker Onandi Lowe, with two headers that just missed thetarget, had the Reggae Boyz' best chances midway the half. The match, which was marred at times by rough play, saw Bulgaria's Zhivko Zhelev shown the red card for a harsh tackle on Lowe in the 90th minute.
