- Prof. Chirkov, what is the condition of your patient?
- It is still very early to speak about her condition. It is a miracle that she is still alive.
- How was the operation carried out?
- We sought for the cooperation of the Health Ministry and the cabinet. They ensured a plane to transport the organs of the 17-year-old donor from Pleven. Four surgeons under my guidance performed the transplantation. I am grateful to my colleagues who helped me during the operation. They are excellent surgeons - Dr. Roumen Iliev, Dr. Dimitar Nikolov, Dr. Baev. But what is most important in this case is that we see a change in the way of thinking of the people in Bulgaria pertaining to donation of organs and it goes to a positive direction.
