Seven out of ten Bulgarians are employed in shadow economy. The monthly payment of about 40 percent of the employed Bulgarians is by forty-fifty percent higher than the sum stated in their paychecks. Three out of every ten employed Bulgarians do not pay social insurance premiums at all. The latest data show that 732,000 Bulgarians work in the grey sector without a labor contract. They do not pay taxes and social insurance premiums. When these people retire, they will hardly be able to live by their pensions.
