The five nurses and the doctor who face a death sentence on the accusation of deliberately infecting 400 Libyan children with HIV, were proclaimed not guilty of the charges of libel against three Libyan policemen, AP released. The media has been covering the details of the case since its beginning.
Reuters immediate broadcast read: the Bulgarian medics were acquitted of the libel case. At their sitting, the Libyan magistrates rejected the claims of the three Libyan policemen, who had charged the five Bulgarian nurses and the Palestinian doctor for libel.
The agency was explicit: Judge Salem Hamruni declared that the filed policemen's claims for financial compensations were ungrounded.
The acquittal of the Bulgarian nurses was AFP's top news, too. The agency broke the news immediately and announced details about yesterday's sitting of the Libyan court. Hours before this, ITAR-TASS released that the Hollywood Sixth Sense Productions company would film the story of the five Bulgarian medics and the Palestinian doctor sentenced to death in Libya.
