Israel has been keenly interested in the options Bulgaria may offer for SPA and rural tourism. Reportedly, the Israelis preferred this type of tourism in Bulgaria than in any other country. During the official visit of the Bulgarian delegation to Israel the cooperation in tourism was much discussed.
Over a hundred thousand Israelis visit Bulgaria every year. There are four flights Sofia-Tel Aviv a week that are 90% full. Bulgaria's Foreign Minister, Ivailo Kalfin said for that reason increase of air traffic in the destination would most probably be requested. He added that another interesting sphere may prove productive for cooperation, as Israel's Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni offered Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov a project that would present the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during the WWII in different countries.
