According to Industry Watch, each Bulgarian has saved 22,000 levs. In total, the fortune of the Bulgarian people amounts to 165 billion levs, including bank savings, shares, mutual and pension funds, as well as cash and real properties.
Industry Watch analysts have calculated that the fortune of the Bulgarian people has increased by 28 percent over a year alone. At the end of last month, the cash and bank savings of the Bulgarians reached 31,3 billion levs, or 55% of the country's GDP. One-fourth of the Bulgarians' wealth is in cash, but more and more Bulgarians invest in shares and securities. For this reason the savings of the Bulgarian people are not much affected by the world financial crisis.
