Petar Stoichev sank down all hopes of the competition winning the last open water swimming Olympics qualifier in Beijing. The seven times swimming marathon world champion won the victory by halting the stopwatches at 1h 59m, thus securing another Beijing pass for Bulgaria. "I'm very glad that I'll be going to my 3rd Olympics in a row and swim in both the 1.5- and 10 kilometers distances. The conditions here at the canal are excellent. The Chinese made a perfect organization of the Games. The competition was really stiff because it was the last chance for a quota place," Stoichev shared. "Petar showed a wonderful swim and proved he is in fantastic form," his trainer Krassimir Kumanov added.
