Bulgaria's national football team was left without a coach yesterday, when the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) dismissed manager Plamen Markov with a unanimous decision. A commission chaired by Borislav Nikolov has to find a successor of Markov as soon as possible. Former football stars Yordan Lechkov, Nasko Sirakov and Emil Kostadinov will be assisting Nikolov in his search of a new coach of the national team. Markov is to be compensated with about 100,000 levs by the BFU for the premature cancellation of his contract, which was to expire in a year's time. BFU President Borislav Mihaylov will try to talk Markov into accepting smaller compensation.
Mihaylov said further he personally informed Markov about the decision of the Executive Committee.
For the time being the team will be led by Markov's assistants Petar Alexandrov, Lyuboslav Penev and Lyubomir Sheytanov.
