- I am quite happy with it. I hope that young Bulgarian footballers win 1st place next year or the year to follow, though I will do my best to defend my award.

- To be honest, I did not expect that. But I was quite happy. I was asked if there was some kind of competition between Stoichkov and me. I answered that the competition between us was of sports character and when you compete with the best you get better with every day.
- Do you think you can win the award for a 6th time? Is it possible that Stoichkov's record be broken?
- I do hope to win the award for a sixth time.

- He told me that ball was not like the one of France Football magazine (The Golden Ball) and wished me to win it one day.
