Bulgarians, eager to get The Standart's unique Easter present - a consecrated cross - lined up in front of the newspaper stands at early dawn yesterday. At 6 o'clock in the morning, long queues of inpatient people queued at the stores specialized in selling newspapers and magazines; "The Standart" sold out like hot cakes. "Everybody cherish the hope that the little consecrated crosses will bring health and prosperity to their homes," newspaper sellers said.
Readers of The Standart shared their excitement: "I hope that the cross will help my children, who work abroad; I hope that they will come back home," exclaimed an old woman from Blagoevgrad.
"Even Romanians bought issues of The Standart, led by the desire to have a little cross coming from the heart of the Holy Land," newsmen from Rousse informed.
The newspaper sold by 7 a.m. in the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv.
"We haven't seen anything like that," said newspaper sellers from the city of Plovdiv .
The people who didn't succeed in getting a precious copy of The Standart yesterday, should not worry. The newspaper will release on the market a second edition with the special crosses. The commission has already been made and the special envoy of the newspaper is to pack up for a new flight to Jerusalem.
