text sizeForeigners Open Deposits in Bulgarian Banks
There are some hard months ahead of us, but we are optimistic, says the director of Raiffeisenbank
Companies and private persons across Europe have shown interest in opening bank deposits in Bulgaria, said Momchil Andreev, CEO of Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria, in an interview with the Bulgarian news agency (BTA).
"Over the past few weeks we have received quite a few requests from European institutional investors, companies and private persons who want to open bank deposits in Bulgaria. As an EU member, the country guarantees the free movement of capitals and this makes it more investment-attractive than other countries in the region,” he added.
A few days ago, Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria announced lower interest rates on new consumer loans and more Bulgarian banks are expected to follow their example in a dew days. Our decision to lower the interests is based on an optimistic scenario for the development of the Bulgarian economy, Andreev said.
