Bulgaria’s prime minister Boyko Borissov has withdrawn the state money the former cabinet deposited in commercial banks. He refused to disclose the names of the banks which shared out a deposit of 14 percent of Bulgaria’s fiscal reserve. “We shall not disclose which banks were used. We consider it more important that the money – about 8 billion levs (1 euro = 1.95 levs) - is now safe at the Bulgarian National Bank. We absolutely guarantee that all customer deposits are and will be intact,” Borissov told the Bulgarian National Radio.
Borissov accused former prime minister Sergey Stanishev and ex-finance minister Plamen Oresharski of an attempt to lead Bulgaria’s banking system into a state of collapse. “It is getting clearer every day that both Stanishev and Oresharski were unfit to be governors. Their names will be forgotten in the course of history. And I am convinced that what we are doing now will remain. It is more than obvious that they are scoundrels, who are trying to make us look like scoundrels,” Borissov said.
