The Bulgarian police will launch a program for exchange and training of officers and personnel with their Russian colleagues. This is provided in a protocol for cooperation signed by Bulgaria?s Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov and his Russian counterpart Rashid Nurgaliev. The protocol also provides for partnership between the Bulgarian and the Russian law-enforcers involving exchange of operative information and joint operations against organized criminal activities.
Minister Tsvetanov also took part in the First Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety - November 2009, organized in Moscow. In his report Mr. Tsvetanov emphasized that 1,000 people die in road accidents in Bulgaria each year. On a global scale, road accidents cause 1.3 million fatalities every year and over 50 million people get permanently disabled.
