Bulgarian to Claim Further Compensations for NPP Kozloduy

In addition to the extra 300 million euro that Bulgaria is scheduled to receive from the EU by 2013, after this period the government in Sofia is planning to claim further compensations for the decommissioned power units 3 and 4 of NPP Kozloduy. This became clear from an interview of Bulgaria Economy and Energy Minister Traycho Traykov with DW Radio in London.
?The Bulgarian government will ask the European Commission to allocate extra funds for the financing of additional projects and initiatives,? the minister said, but he denied allegations that the money might be used for the construction of a new power reactor on the site of NPP Kozloduy.
During his visit to London, Minister Traykov signed four agreements for gratuitous aid from the EU totaling twenty million euro. Two of the agreements provide for the construction of a national depot for nuclear waste, while the other two will provide funds for the construction of a small hydro-electric power plant near the Rila Monastery and the repair of nearly 6,000 public buildings.
