One more border check point Kardjali - Komotini - Makaza between Bulgaria and Greece is expected to be opened in 2010, reported Bulgaria's President, Georgi Parvanov after talks with his Greek counterpart, Karolos Papoulias. The Bulgarian Head of State and his wife Zorka arrived on a two-day visit to Athens yesterday. In their one-to-one talks the presidents discussed the future opening of two other border check points which will facilitate the flow of people and goods between the two countries. They also discussed the big energy projects like Nabucco and South Stream.
"The cooperation between the two countries is fruitful but we have still things to improve," Papoulias said after the talks.
President Parvanov added that they also talked about the Greek stand on the issues of Macedonia and Kosovo.
The cooperation between the two countries should continue even with a change of governments, underlined Bulgaria's head of state and immediately added that Greece is the biggest foreign investor - the commodity turnover between the two countries totals 2.4 billion euro. Besides, every year Bulgaria and Greece exchange one million tourists, added president Parvanov. Later in the presence of the two presidents has been signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of education, science and culture.
President Parvanov had meetings with the chairman of the parliament Filippos Petsalnikos and with the leader of New Democracy party Kostas Karamanlis.
