"In October, the Bulgarians who travelled abroad were by 19.8% less than they had been in the same period of 2008," informed sources from the National Statistical Institute.
This month, 361,000 Bulgarians realized trips to foreign countries. The people willing to visit Japan, for example, were by 72.7% less than they were last year. The number of the Bulgarians that chose to travel to Portugal increased by 98.5%; to Norway - by 26.8%, and to Macedonia - by 6.2%. Half of the travelling Bulgarians go on business trips, 25.5% - on excursions, 23.7 - on a visit to friends or relatives. The trips in Bulgaria have increased by 11%. In the country, the holiday-makers spend most of their money on food, and when travelling abroad - on transport.
