Peace award named after the poet will be handed in Bansko
The grave of outstanding Bulgarian poet Nikola Vaptsarov that was vandalized last year has been now restored thanks to sponsors several days before the start of the ceremonies on the occasion of the poet?s centenary. On December 7, Bulgarian and foreign admirers of his poetry will be able to pay homage to his memory at the Central Cemetery of Sofia, Maya Vaptsarova, the niece of the poet and currently the chair of the Electronic Media Council, told The Standart. The birthday of the poet was marked according to the Julian calendar on November 24th in Razgrad. Jubilee ceremonies will be held today in Lovech and Kyustendil. The culmination will be in Vaptsarov's home town of Bansko on December 7th where Vaptsarov peace award will be handed.
The final ceremony will be staged on December 14 in the National Theater in Sofia.
