The headquarters of the NDI party in Jerusalem. 01.00. After a triumphant speech and telephone conversations with Benjamin Netanjahu and Zipi Livni time has come to pay attention to friends. In a closed room where there are no cameras, the leader of NDI Avigdor Lieberman thanked everyone personally. NDI has won 15 seats during these elections and now new faces will represent the party in the Knesset.
Mikhail Chernoy, Russian oligarch whose wealth is estimated at several billion dollars, also attended the event. Chernoy is considered among the closest friends of Lieberman and, according to the Israeli police, he is one of the key figures in the investigative case against the leader of the Israel’s third biggest party.
The victorious celebrations of Lieberman may be too premature. There is a voluminous folder on the table of a legal advisor that contains some documents that at first sight point to a suspicion of a huge money transfer, the money that Lieberman received from Chernoy via dummy companies.
A source related to this investigation has defined it as a “whole mechanism for hiding monthly remittances of millions of dollars that has been functioning for several years.”
If the public had access to the case materials of the investigation - the same source says further - they would understand that it’s a real hair-raiser. The source belives that in the long run the indictment against Lieberman is inevitable. Chernoy himself denies all allegations.
“In the last 15 years of my stay in Israel  nothing has  changed, every time they would concoct something new. Actually, however, it all rubbish,” Chernoy said in an interview with ITV Channel 2 newscast. “I stay away from politics. The only thing I would wish to Lieberman is to remain the leader of his party and lead it forward.”

Chernoy was not afraid to take part in the celebration of Lieberman’s victory. Similar to Chernoy other two members of the faction – former deputy commissioner of the Israeli police,  Yitzhak Aharonovitch, and ex-minister of home security, Uzi Landau, didn’t see anything wrong about his presence. Both Lieberman and Chernoy are being investigated now and soon will be interrogated again. What remains to see now is the decision the prosecultion will take on their case.

The police ask Meni Mazuz to question Lieberman

The police brass of the investigation department met with a legal advisor of the government, Mezuz and told him that the investigation on the Lieberman’s case gives grounds for suspicions of his involvement in money laundering together with his lawyer, Johab Mani. The police ask Mazuz to give a permission fro questioning Lieberman with a warning that perjury entails criminal liability within two weeks.

Twenty-four hours before the NDI lays their cards on the table and informs the President who will receive the mandate for cabinet formation the police put spokes in the wheels of the victorious leader of NDI, Avigdor Lieberman. Today, the police approached the legal advisor to the President, Meni Mazuz asking him to summon Lieberman for interrogation on the money laundering case in which he is a suspect.
The top-ranking officers of the investigation department of the Israeli police today met with the legal advisor to the government and presented to him their new data collected after the arrest and questioning of the close circle of Lieberman. The key agenda of the meeting was the fact that the probe into the suspicions gives grounds to suspect Lieberman and his lawyer Johab Mani.
During the meeting in the Ministry of Justice, Johab Sigalovitch, head of the investigation department, and Gen. Shlomi Ayalon handed the data to Mazuz. This data allow to draw a picture – a very grave one at first sight – that features mainly the key suspicion against Lieberman, i.e. money laundering worth millions of shekels via the dummy firms set up by his lawyer.
The police ask Mazuz to give a permission fro questioning Lieberman with a warning that perjury entails criminal liability within two weeks.
In reply to the inquiry by the news department of ITV Channel 2 the NDI said that has no intention to respond to this information.

2.    Economic newspaper Globes quoted Channel 2 and referring to their own sources wrote that Lieberman will face official charges. M.Ch. is mentioned as another prominent figure in this case.
