Our country should develop organic agriculture, because 70% of arable land in Bulgaria is clean, said Lyutvi Mestan
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) insists that Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov should impose a veto on the act for the Genetically Modified Organisms, if the current text of the law in question is adopted at second reading by the parliament.
"From now on, the MRF will be a synonym not only of human rights and freedoms but of ecological strategy for development of Bulgaria, as well," said Lyutvi Mestan, deputy leader of the MRF.
To his words, organic agriculture is one of the country's chances to develop successfully.
"Seventy percent of arable land in Bulgaria is suitable for this purpose, while only up to 5% of the soil in the other European countries is clean enough. We should not waste such a resource because of an absurd law," said Mr. Mestan.
