Young Bulgarians Are Willing to Emigrate

Stella Stoyanova
Young people in Bulgaria will diminish by 40% if they have a chance to emigrate, shows a survey made January 2010 – May 2011. Seven percent of the Bulgarians under 30 are decided to leave this country by all means. Most of them are disheartened by unemployment and low living standard.
If they had the right to choose where to be born only 57% of young people would have preferred Bulgaria as a birth place.
59% of young people hope Bulgaria’s EU membership to give rise to positive political changes. 80% think that in Bulgaria there isn’t equality in the eye of the law. However, a little over half of the young people have stated they are not interested in politics and just one third watch the news. 78% are convinced the state doesn’t take enough care of them. Young Bulgarians feel free from psychological point of view, but are economically dependant, the survey shows.
