A new flu wave will sweep Bulgaria on the eve of St. Valentine. Experts predict that winter flu strans will be most active in mid-February this year. They recommend to stay away from crowded places where infection spreads most easily. Buildings with central air conditioning systems are most dangerous because of air circulation, told The Standart rhinology expert of the University Hospital Dr. Dimiter Kehaiov.     
Two flu viruses are expected to hit Bulgaria in the coming days. The new Asian strains attack the most vulnerable parts of human body. If, for instance, a patient has a kidney disease the virus will set upon kidneys first. If you feel a slight discomfort, have sore throat, joint pain or dizziness visit your GP by all means. Doctors assure that vaccination is the best preventive measure against flu infection. Vaccines are available in any pharmacy and the price is affordable – about 15 leva. This year the flu season started later than usual in Europe but the first cases have been already registered in Bulgaria, Prof. Kozhuharova explained. In the last week alone some 5,000 Bulgarians complained of flu symptoms and their number is expected to rise sharply as the infection peak is not reached yet.
