Bad Credits Hit 22,6% of All Credits in Bulgaria
The bad and restructured bank credits in Bulgaria, without the overdrafts, hit 22,58% of all credits, shows the data of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) end-February. After the bad credits increased by 0.72% compared to January 2012, their total sum hit a new record of 9.27 billion levs. 19,93% (1.48 billion levs) of all consumer's credits are problematic or directly written off as losses. Only in February they increased by 0.87% (12,9 million levs), as the increase compared to the same month of 2011 is 13% (170,7 million levs). The problematic home mortgages in February increase by 1% (17,39 million levs), reaching 19,89% (1,74 billion levs) of all home loans. For a year they increased by 22,49% (319,9 million levs). 24,2% (5.8 billion levs) of all company credits in Bulgaria are problematic or written off as losses. In February they increased by 0.58% (34,012 million levs), as compared to the same month of 2011 the growth is by 25,54% (1,180 billion levs). Within the last 3 years a drop of the total size of the problematic credits was registered only once in December 2011.
