text sizeRussian Patriarch Kiril Meets PM Borissov
Russia's Patriarch Kiril will arrive on an official visit to Bulgaria from April 27 to 30. He has been invited by his Bulgarian counterpart, Patriarch Maxim and the Holy Synod. During his visit Patriarch Kiril will be accompanied by the Metropolitan of Vidin, Dometian responsible of the inter-church relations. The high guest will take part in the Sunday liturgy at St Alexander Nevski Cathedral and will talk with Bulgaria's President, Rossen Plevneliev, the Speaker of the Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva and the Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov.
Patriarch Kiril will also visit Plovdiv bishopric and the Russian church St Nikolay the Miracle Worker in Sofia. His agenda also envisages talks with the Russian community in Bulgaria. Experts in church deeds reckon that his visit is of key significance for the relations of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
According to the all orthodox hierarchical order, Patriarch Kiril had to visit Belgrade first as the Serbian Patriarchate is deemed older than the Bulgarian one.
