text sizeState Servants Fired if Refusing to Change Locale
In lines with the coming reforms concerning the geographical redistribution of the state administration, Bulgaria's Minister of Finance, Simeon Djankov released that the state officials who disagree with working in another city would be dismissed and receive one salary as a compensation. He believes in Sofia they would have better chances to find another job.
The aim of the first stage of the reforms is to shift the offices of one or two of the state structures. The targeted places are Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas, Rousse, Veliko Tarnovo, Blagoevgrad and Pleven where the State Wine and Vine Agency will be moved. The Fisheries and Aquacultures Agency would not be in Varna as expected but in Bourgas as larger draught is made in the southern Black Sea.
Cities are chosen on two criteria - to have the necessary optic connections and the existence of a university to provide the needed qualified staff. If the first stage proves successful it is very likely that some state structures would be moved to towns like Vratsa, Vidin and Lovech.
