According to Eurostat, the Bulgarians were the most active consumers in the whole EU in March 2012, with an increase in the retail sales from February by 3.9%. Poland comes second on the top spenders? list with a 2.6% increase in the retail sales.
For comparison, the average increase in the 27-member EU was only 0.7% at the end of the first quarter of the year, and it the Eurozone it was just 0.3%.
Estonia and Portugal saw their retail sales fall by two and 2.2 percent, respectively at the end of Q1 2012.
