Bulgaria has benefitted nearly 7 billion levs from its EU membership so far, it transpired from the speech of PM Borissov during the ceremony on handing the contracts sealed under the Competitiveness Operational Program.
"Bulgaria;s contribution to the EU budget for the period 2007-2011 totals to 3.5 billion levs. As to April 2012 Bulgaria received 9 billion levs from the EC. By the end of April 2012 Bulgaria negotiated 75% from the resources on Operational Programs of which 3.42 billion levs have already been paid.
"Today we are signing contracts worth 50 million levs. You are still to get another 1 billion levs,” PM Borissov stated appealing to the business to take part in the absorption of EU funds.
