In 1887, Ferdinand I swore allegiance as Bulgarian knyaz (prince regnant).
In 1891, on Buzludzha peak in Stara Planina was established the Bulgarian social democratic party.
In 1903, started Ilinden - Preobrazhenie uprising for liberating the Bulgarians living in Macedonia and Eastern Thrace.
