text sizeBulgarian President Concerned About Schengen Entry Delay
We are still pursuing an accession into the visa-free Schengen area, but we feel a bit concerned about the interview of Germany’s foreign minister, in which he declares himself against Bulgaria’s Schengen entry, President Rossen Plevneliev said.
"Bulgaria is doing quite well securing the outer borders of the EU and, I would say, it is doing even better than many older EU member states. We think we have already met all of the accession criteria. And this interview, although it was given with a local TV channel, makes us feel a bit uneasy,” President Plevneliev said.
He quoted EU President Rompuy and EC President Barroso as saying they did not see any major obstacles for Bulgaria’s Schengen entry.
