The retail price of wine in Bulgaria may soon go up, Branimir Botev, Chairman of the Association of the Producers and Importers of Alcoholic Beverages, told the Focus news agency.
His forecast is largely based on the recent increase in the prices of electricity, fuels and herbicides.
The retail prices of wine are expected to increase in the entire EU.
This year’s grapes crop is 30% lower because of the dry summer and the cold winter. This means that the wholesale price of grapes is bound to increase, which will inevitably result in a higher retail price of wine in Bulgaria.
