Atomstroyexport in Standby Mode on NPP BeleneAtomstroyexport in Standby Mode on NPP Belene
The Russian constructor of Bulgaria’s NPP Belene has switched to a standby mode.As a first step, the company has decided to downsize its Bulgarian workforce on the site of NPP Belene, the Atomstroyexport representative in Bulgaria told the Standart. This move of the Russian constructor has reportedly been provoked by the lack of decision on the part of Bulgaria’s energy utility NEC regarding the project’s future. Sources from the company said the maintenance of the site was rather costly.Rosatom (subsidiary of Atomstroyexport) is observing all commitments that the company has taken on the NPP Belene projects, despite the lack of any particular decision on the Bulgarian part.
