Smoking ban to Cost Bulgarian Govt BGN 228 MAccording to the branch association of the restaurant-keepers in Bulgaria, the ban on smoking in public places is going to cost the Bulgarian government 228 million levs in a year alone.They have calculated that the average turnover in the sector will drop by ten percent and eighteen thousand employees may be laid off. As a result, the revenues to the national revenue agency from various taxes in the sector of restaurant-keeping will drop by two million levs per month, while the revenues to the budget from VAT alone will drop by five million levs a month.
