Quakes to Rock Bulgaria for One More MonthThe aftershocks of the Tuesday earthquake in western Bulgaria will persist for at least a moth, Emil Botev of the National Institute of Seismology told The Standart. The tremors, however, will be very weak and people will hardly feel them. “Seismologists are almost sure that a new shock of a magnitude equal to six on the Richter scale is impossible,” the expert assured. According to him, this seismic hotbed is characterized by low activity the only risk is that the Sofia seismic zone can be awakened by the Tuesday shock. “So far, though, there are no signs of seismic activity in this zone,” Botev added.
